Sorry, I’m done now.

This giant printer will have a home on my skoolie.  I repeat: this giant printer will have a home on my skoolie.  Some might call me stubborn for bringing this item along.  I mean, it takes up a large chunk of real estate and the bus is small.  I am not ready to let it go though.

I want to print all of the books!

You see, just like I struggled through countless Windows computers before landing on the Mac Book Pro, I also struggled through my fair share of printers.  When our last one bit the dust, I fought with it for another two months before realizing the battle was over.  Once I came to this realization, I began the process of printer hunting.

I only had once criteria:

Who is printing the 700 PDF books online and what printer are they using?

The answer was obviously ‘Homeschool Moms’ and with a little searching in my Facebook groups, I found moms who bragged of printing PDF books that were 1,000 pages long.  Other moms bragged about printing entire curriculums for their families of 8 kids.  What were these people using?  They all cried out in unison, “You need a Brother printer, Tina!”

I ended up getting this one.

Why I love the HL-L2380DW Brother Printer

I have printed 3 PDF books.  These were diesel engine manuals from vocational colleges.  They weren’t exactly light reading.  While I can’t give you an exact page count, I do know that one of them was over 700 pages.  I asked Elijah 3 times if he really wanted to read it before I hit that button and took out half a forest of trees.

It always, always, always stays connected to the wifi.  My other printer took a lot of days off from its relationship with the internet.  They ran hot and cold…mostly cold.  The new printer and our wifi get along great.  I can always count on them to work as a team.

It holds so much paper.  I usually put in half a ream of paper.  I think I could put in more, but there is this piece of me that is still confused by the fact that I don’t have to limit myself to 30 pieces of paper at a time.

It prints fast, does two sided pages, and uses less ink.  This means I’m saving money,  I don’t buy as much paper as I used to and I’m still on the first itoner cartridge.

So, if anyone has any ideas on how I can store/hide/power this beast of a printer on my skoolie, I am all ears.  Leave a comment below and let me know what your ideas are.  I want it out of the way, yet functional!
